College Road is the first volumetric building in the world to reach 50 storeys, bringing nearly 1,000 much-needed homes to Croydon.
At 163m, College Road is the world’s tallest volumetric building as well as the largest co-living development.
With 1,725 units installed in 40 weeks, the whole project was delivered in just 28 months, two months ahead of schedule. It provides 817 co-living homes and seven floors of amenity spaces for operator Outpost Management, as well as 120 affordable homes.
Inspired by Croydon’s mid-century modernist skyline, the visually striking, ceramic-clad geometric facade shows how volumetric methods can deliver architecture of the highest quality.
Volumetric manufacture accounted for nearly three-quarters of construction, but less than one-third of total construction time.
